Tradition and Fashion can be one in the same but, sometimes with a modern twist. The traditional African American Headwrap has kept step with Fashion all along the way. Share your cultural head dress tradition as we use modern fabrics to adorn each other with head wraps and head ties and beads. Demonstrations will occur throughout the event.
Things to Bring:
- Willingness to share your cultural dress traditions and talents with each other.
- Your creative spirit and vibrant nature.
Note: All other materials required will be made available.

Our Fabric Stash built its name on community. Our on-ramp to Community Programming & Outreach is called Stash-a-DOOdles. We are proud to re-introduce the art of crafting to community by bridging cross cultural and inter-generational relationships, hosting relevant events around fellowship, food and activities. An opportunity to reinvigorate old traditions for modern times by using collective making as a structure to hold community feasts.
During the months of October and November, there will be a different craft activity each Saturday from fiber art to quilting and beyond. Come and share the experience of making either a gift for yourself or adding to a community quilt that celebrates the diverse history of Seattle’s Central District and the role Washington Hall has served throughout the years.
Crafting materials, childcare and light refreshments will be provided. The events are appropriate for all ages unless mentioned otherwise.
Look for Stash-a-DOOdles throughout the community, everywhere!
